This is my entry of the person in question. In Finnish, with English in brackets [].
Lauri Laurinpoika Junkkara. [Lauri, son of Lauri.]
Syntynyt 2.4.1800 Rovaniemi. [Born April 2nd 1800.]
Renki, torppari, mäkitupalainen. [Hired worker, crofter, inhabitant in a cottage, later settler-farmer]
Arkistonimi: Lars Larsson (Junckara) Töyräs. [Name in archives: Lars Larsson Junckara, later Töyräs]
Kummit [godparents]: Johan Junckara & vmo [his wife] Brita Felicia [born Gisselkors], Carl Sutari vmo [wife] Gretha, Stephan Junckara, neitonen [young maid] Gretha Junckara.
Vihki pappilassa Sandberg, ei juhla-asua. [Wed at vicar's home by Sandberg, no festival dress].
Esiintyi tilattomien joukossa 1827-1828. [Appeared among those not having own or leased land].
Siirtyi uudisasukkaaksi. [Started as a settler.]
Tilanumeroksi tuli Korkalo nro 25 ja samalla sukunimeksi tuli Töyräs. [The newly established farm was registered as Korkalo # 25, and the family adopted name Töyräs, which means riverbank, or a similar formation.]
Kuollut 25.1.1878. [Date of death Jan 25th 1878]

His parents were Lauri Tuomaanpoika Junkkara [Lars Thomason 1770-1851] and Elina Matintytär Korva [Elin Mattsdotter 1774-1844].
This couple had 7 children, of which Lauri was the third one.

I have studied the Junkkara family extensively and other inhabitants at farm Korkalo 1.

Lisa Caisa Larsdotter (Junkkara) Töyräs married Hans Josefsson Pulju.
I guess you are among (or related to) their descendants.

Some years ago a personal page existed with heading "Emil's Ancestors". It was maintained by an American.
It covered this marriage and many more ancestors of the said Emil, from both Rovaniemi and other Lapland communities.
If you happen to find that documentation possibly in Wadena County archives, you will find readily translated material for your use.

I believe this is the website in question (from the Internet Archive):
http://web.archive.org/web/200411160838 ... zehg01.htm

Not sure if Carol's email still works (the capture is from 2005) but her address can be found here:

You can facebook her though, she's active on the Hokana United page:
https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid= ... 563&v=wall

Didn't want to link her personal page here.

Thank you Jani and timotk for your help with the translation and additional information relating to Lars Junckara and that family. Yes I am related to them through the Pulju family. This is by far the best information I have been given because there is so much personal information and not just dates and places, but being married by the Vicar and occupations and the links to other sites. If you only knew how long it took me to realize that Lars Toyras and Lars Junkara were the same person.
Have a nice week, and thank you very much.
Janice
